Quality and documentation
Measured against your specification, confirmed per lot
Vanilla and spices are natural products and vary between harvests. What does not vary is the process: an agreed specification, testing against it, and documentation that reports what was actually found in your consignment.
How a consignment is prepared
Specification agreed first
Before anything is prepared, we agree the grade, moisture, size and packing format in writing. Quality is measured against what you asked for, not against a general standard.
Selection at source
Our sourcing partners select against that written specification. Lots that fall outside the agreed tolerances are not offered.
Laboratory testing
Lots are laboratory tested before packing at our sourcing partners’ in-house laboratory. Testing covers the parameters relevant to the product and your destination market, including microbiological analysis where your specification or import requirements call for it.
Certificate of analysis
Each consignment carries a lot-specific certificate of analysis. It reports the tested values for that consignment, not a typical or indicative figure.
Packed and documented
Packing is to the agreed format. Export documentation is prepared for your destination and shared with you directly ahead of shipment.
Why we do not publish certification
Madagascar's vanilla trade is a private one, and for good reason. Publicly identifying producers, locations or certification exposes people in the supply chain to risk. It is the accepted practice in the trade, and we follow it.
That does not mean the documentation does not exist. It means it is shared directly with you rather than published on a website. Once an enquiry is live, we provide what your procurement and import requirements call for.
Documentation available
Prepared according to the product and your destination, and shared directly with you at the point of order.
- Certificate of analysisLot-specific, per consignment. Microbiological parameters included on request.
- Phytosanitary certificateWhere the destination requires it
- Certificate of originWhere the destination requires it
- Commercial invoicePer shipment
- Packing listPer shipment
- Transport documentationPer shipment
If your import formalities require something not listed here, tell us at enquiry stage and we will confirm whether we can provide it before you place an order.
Samples
Samples are available before you commit to a full order. Tell us the line and grade you are assessing and we will confirm sample size, cost and turnaround alongside your quotation.
A sample represents the agreed specification as closely as is reasonably possible. It does not remove the natural batch-to-batch variation that comes with an agricultural product, and tolerances are agreed in writing rather than assumed.
Specifications are indicative. Final specification, packing, shelf life and compliance are confirmed by contract and lot-specific COA. Full commercial terms apply to all quotations and orders.
Ask us what you need
Send your specification and destination and we will confirm what testing and documentation we can provide before you commit to anything.
